SciVi
The Integrated Training Pipeline for Scientific Visualization or SciVi is the NSF funded MPS IPSE project at California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) in collaboration with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which trains undergraduate and graduate students from three different disciplines - Art, Physics and Astronomy and Computer Science - to develop accurate and effective scientific visualizations of topics in Cosmology and implement their public dissemination. The SciVi lab environment fosters formal and informal collaboration between students through which Physicists, Artists and Computer Scientists share their expertise and hone their aesthetic and technical skills while developing computer animations, computer games, and interactive web applications which bring the current understanding of origin and structure of our Universe to the general public. Students, faculty and staff collaborate on projects for public events, as well as individual participation in art exhibitions, scientific demonstrations, and professional presentations in conferences, symposiums, and festivals.
